Privacy policy
Last updated October 21, 2026. This covers the Daily Detour website (dailydetour.app) and the Daily Detour Android app. Daily Detour is a small daily puzzle game. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
- Your username. You choose it. It is public: other players see it on leaderboards and profiles.
- Your game results. Daily scores, how each game went, your streak and the stamps you earn. Leaderboards and profiles show scores, and profiles show a streak or stamps and history unless you hide them in Settings.
- Your email address (optional). It is only used to sign you in, to recover your account, and, if you turn it on, to send the daily reminder email. It is never shown to other players.
- Friends. The players you add and the requests you send or receive.
- Your settings. Such as your avatar, what you share, and whether daily reminder emails are on.
- A recovery code. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy. We can’t read your code.
- A sign-in cookie. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. The app keeps the same sign-in in the phone’s secure storage.
- Temporary technical data. To block abuse, we briefly keep scrambled counters tied to your network address. They are not used for anything else and expire on their own.
What we don’t do
There are no ads and no advertising or analytics trackers. We don’t sell your data or share it for marketing. We don’t ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.
On your device
The app keeps some choices and a copy of your latest results on your phone so it works offline: vibration and reminder settings, and the home-screen widgets. Phone notifications (the 9 AM reminder and the streak warning) are scheduled on your phone itself. They don’t use a notification service, and nothing is sent to us to make them work. You can turn them off in Settings or in your phone’s settings.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the database where accounts and scores are stored.
- Resend delivers the sign-in and reminder emails. It receives your email address and the message for that purpose only.
Puzzle photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are loaded through our servers, so your device doesn’t contact them directly. Credits are shown with each photo.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data until you delete your account. To delete it, open Settings → Delete account in the app or on the website, or use our account deletion page. Deletion is immediate and removes your username, scores and history, streak, stamps, friends, settings, reminder subscription and linked email. If you can’t sign in, email [email protected].
You can turn off reminder emails any time in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in every email.
Children
Daily Detour is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. Please don’t sign up with an email address if you are under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their information; if you think we have, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Connections are encrypted, recovery codes are stored hashed, and the app keeps your sign-in in the phone’s protected storage. No online service is perfectly secure, but we take care to keep this simple and minimal.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and, for big changes, tell players in the app.
